The parish of Cambois was originally part of St Cuthbert's, Bedlington. The closure of the local colliery and the reduction of housing has left a small community, served by the vicar of Sleekburn and a non-stipendiary priest. [The Newcastle Diocesan Gazetteer (1982), page 19.]
