Small rectangular church built by Hicks and Charlewood. Prior to being built, the parishioners attended services at the parish church of St Oswald in Lee about 1½ miles away on the B6318. [The Newcastle Diocesan Gazetteer (1982), page 32.]
Stained window in the chancel is dedicated:
We bless Thy Holy Name O Lord for all Thy
servants departed this Life in Thy faith and fear
and who sleep the sleep of peace, especially
George Marmaduke Darley Waddilove,
Major in the Bengal Army, who entered into rest
March the vith mdccclxxxvii, in affectionate
remembrance of whom his widow and son here
dedicate this window in honour of Christ Crucified.
A brass plate on the organ reads:
AFFECTIONATE MEMORY OF GEORGE HOPE WADDILOVE BY HIS RELATIONS AND FRIENDS AND WAS DEDICATED TO THE SERVICE OF GOD 27TH MARCH 1936. |

A small metal plate fastened to the railings around the war memorial on the village green records:
